Gypsum board double eyelid turns yellow after being scraped with putty, what's the matter?

Yesterday, an owner sent me two pictures, saying that the home made double eyelid, and after scraping the putty, the putty on the gypsum board turned yellow, and asked me what happened?

We have encountered this situation before. At that time, we asked a lot of people and tested a lot of things before confirming which link was the problem.

Today I will tell you two reasons why this happens.

The first is that the quality of the gypsum board used is not good. It may be that the moisture content of the gypsum board is high, or the quality of the sticker on the surface of the gypsum board is not good.

When this happened to us at that time, one gypsum board was bad, and the other gypsum boards were fine.

If there is a double eyelid made by the whole family, only a few places appear yellow, and other places are normal, which should be what I said.

The second reason is the most common. The gypsum board used on the site is damp, whether it is because the gypsum board gets water on the site, or it is affected by the overall environment. If the gypsum board is transported to the construction site, it will not be used for a long time. It is possible that this problem occurs.

This is the most common reason, but it is easy to avoid. Do not enter the gypsum board in advance. You can enter the site one or two days in advance for carpentry, or you can use it now.

What should I do when this happens?

The treatment methods are divided into two cases. The first one is relatively mild. In this case, the gypsum board can be dried for a longer time. When the putty is scraped for the second time, it may not turn yellow.

The second situation is more serious, that is, the yellow color is darker. In this case, the gypsum board should be removed and replaced with a new gypsum board. Once it reaches this level, it will not only affect the firmness of the putty, but also the surface of the gypsum board is already uneven. .
