Can the direction of the kitchen flue hole be changed at will?

Answering a question from an owner today, the owner’s question is very interesting. He changed the direction of the kitchen flue hole, but when he used it, he found that the smoke in the house could not be exhausted.

I communicated with the owner and asked him to find someone to remove the check valve to see if there are main and auxiliary flue structures in the flue.

After removing it, I found that there was a vertical baffle in the middle of the newly opened flue. When the smoke was blown out, the check valve could not be fully opened. I was really defeated by this master.

I asked the owner to find the previous master to install the check valve on the original side, and block the newly opened flue hole with a tile, so that the smoke can be exhausted smoothly.

Through this question, I want to tell you two things. First, the direction of the flue exhaust holes should not be easily changed. Now many flues are divided into main and auxiliary flues, just like the relationship between the main road and the ramp. Each house has a separate ramp, the downward end is blocked, the upward end is connected to the main flue, and there will be a vertical plate in the middle of the flue, which divides the entire flue in two.

This design is to prevent the smell of other homes from coming to your home, what a good design.

To change the direction of the flue mouth, you need to smash the board in the middle of the flue. Although this board is not thick, it is inside the flue after all. If they do this, the low-level owners will be out of luck. This is a self-serving approach.

Second, before you decide to change the exhaust hole, you must first confirm the structure of the flue in your home.

The way to confirm is very simple. Remove the original fire prevention check valve of the developer and see with your eyes. If there is a baffle, you can see it clearly, and you will feel that the board is very close to the flue mouth. The board, when you look inside, it’s all black.

If there is no main and auxiliary flue, the direction of the exhaust port can be adjusted left and right. If it is the structure of the main and auxiliary flue, it is recommended to only move up and down, not left and right.

It is a very difficult task to prevent the flue from being tainted with odor. It is very difficult to maintain the original structure and avoid odor.
